Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons Warlock Weapons and Pact Steel

Two equipped arms, found and upgraded, used after magic writes the opening

Last updated:

Weapons

Kaatri is a Pact of the Blade warlock who used to end arguments with steel. Invoke showed a warhammer and a sword in the Gamescom loadout, said two weapons can be equipped at once, and said new ones can be found and upgraded. Otherworldly melee appears as a summoned closer after tentacles, levitate, or leash have done the dishonest work. That is the entire public weapon economy. There is no damage spreadsheet, no rarity ladder, no smithing minigame screenshot. This page refuses to invent one.

Why melee still matters when cantrips never empty

Because Kaatri is not a turret. Eldritch Blast tags from range. Witch Bolt stuns through wet metal. Then someone has to step in and finish the ogre whose arms are occupied. Coverage describes ripping a sword out of that ogre with Tasha’s Leash and throwing or swinging it. Another beat levitates a blade into a second body. A long jump can land as a melee attack. Magic writes the sentence; steel is the period. Read combat and Pact of the Blade together.

Two slots, more in the world

Guay’s interview language: at any time you have two weapons equipped; you can find new ones; you can upgrade them. Towns in Darkon are one of the places those upgrades happen, alongside NPC talk and quests. If you skip settlements, you are skipping the only confirmed upgrade desk. Exploration and Darkon explain why wandering is not optional flavor.

What those upgrades change — damage, stance, elemental infusion, warlock-specific invocations on the blade — is unpublished. Do not download a fake “best warhammer” graphic. When a UI exists, spell loadouts will connect steel to the pad kit.

Summoned versus found

Pact of the Blade fantasy includes calling a weapon that should not exist. Preview copy talks about otherworldly melee imbued with unique tactical value. The footage still shows physical hammer and sword work. Live with both ideas: you may summon, you may loot, you may throw what you just stole. Tasha’s Leash is a grab that turns the environment into ammunition. A weapons master who only swings the starting pair is leaving throws on the table.

Practical pairing with spells

  • Black Tentacles hold, then hammer.
  • Levitate, then slam or thrown steel.
  • Leash steal, then the stolen edge.
  • Fey Switch to the ogre’s back, then the short blade.
  • Jump landing as the melee hit after a gap.

Those pairs are filmed or described, not theorycrafted from a datamine. The combo planner and how to beat enemies reuse them. Controls do not yet list bumper layouts for weapon swap.

What we are waiting for

Weapon names beyond generic hammer and sword, upgrade currencies, whether Pact Weapon replaces loot or sits beside it, durability, and ranged physical options besides thrown magic-gripped objects. Until those exist, treat weapons as a second grammar, not a loot treadmill. 2027 will fill the itemization. Literacy now is knowing when to stop blasting and start swinging.

What we still refuse to invent on this page

Pre-release wikis fail when they fill silence with numbers. Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons has not published damage, cooldowns, campaign hours, or a skill tree. This article therefore repeats only public nouns: Kaatri, Tasha, Darkon, Raw Magic, cantrips, advanced spells, rituals, two weapons, 2027, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. If a later trailer names a new tool, it belongs here as a named tool, not as a guessed rank. Wishlist links belong on the platforms article. Button maps belong on the controls article. Boss names belong nowhere until Invoke says them on camera.

Readers arriving from Baldur’s Gate 3 should treat this page as a different job: no camp, no dice, no origin picker. Readers arriving from Dark Alliance should treat it as a different session: no four-player drop-in. Readers arriving from tabletop warlock threads should treat Eldritch Blast as a pad verb, not a slot you ration after a short rest. Witch Bolt wants water and metal. Black Tentacles hold bodies and masonry. Fey Switch is a survival swap. Downpour is a ritual with bowls. Tasha’s Leash is original to this video game.

The official site, the Gamescom eight-minute film, Maggie Robertson’s stage intro, and Dominic Guay’s IGN interview remain the primary sources. Tricia Helfer is Kaatri. The lost person has no public name. Azalin Rex is vanished in previews, not a confirmed health bar. Crickshank harbors a secret in captions. Steam lists twelve languages; this wiki ships English, French, German, and Spanish. The launch window is still a year, not a day. Notes on gameplay/weapons-en-0 stay unique to this article.
