Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons Warlock Cantrips vs Advanced Spells
Always-on verbs versus cooldown geometry changers
Invoke split Kaatri’s kit into layers. Cantrips stay available. Advanced spells slow time when cast and then sit on a cooldown. Rituals take longer and spend components. That three-layer model is the only resource system they have described. There are no published spell slots. There is no published mana bar. If a UI later adds one, this page will change. Until then, plan as if Eldritch Blast never empties and Fey Switch is a decision.
Cantrips — the sentences you never stop saying
Named cantrips on the official site and in coverage: Eldritch Blast, Witch Bolt, Gust of Wind, with Levitate grouped among always-available tools in TechTimes’ briefing. They delete objects, stun through conductors, shove, lift. They belong on the pad. They are how you talk to Darkon when you are not rewriting weather. Spells hub lists them. Combat uses them as openers.
Advanced — geometry with a receipt
Fey Switch and Black Tentacles are labeled Advanced. Time slows so you can aim the dishonest move: swap with a Watcher, pin an ogre, plant tentacles on a wall. Then you wait. That wait is the tax that keeps advanced spells from being cantrips with extra VFX. Pair them with steel or a cantrip follow-up, not with a second advanced spell you do not have yet. Combos and weapons are the receipts.
Rituals are not advanced spells
Players will mix the words. Do not. Downpour is a Ritual with a table and bowls. It is closer to a camp action than to a bumper. Rituals and controls keep the menu exception visible.
How to practice the split before 2027
Watch the Gamescom film and count: which beats could happen twice in ten seconds (cantrip), which happen once per fight (advanced), which happen once per courtyard (ritual). That counting is more useful than a fake tier list. How to use spells is the tutorial. How to combo magic is the theory. Raw Magic is how the kit grows, not a fourth layer of buttons.
If Hex, Armor of Agathys, or Hunger of Hadar appear later, they will be filed as cantrip, advanced, or ritual based on official labels — not based on 5e level. This game already reimagines Fey Switch. Assume names lie until the site tags them.

What we still refuse to invent on this page
Pre-release wikis fail when they fill silence with numbers. Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons has not published damage, cooldowns, campaign hours, or a skill tree. This article therefore repeats only public nouns: Kaatri, Tasha, Darkon, Raw Magic, cantrips, advanced spells, rituals, two weapons, 2027, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. If a later trailer names a new tool, it belongs here as a named tool, not as a guessed rank. Wishlist links belong on the platforms article. Button maps belong on the controls article. Boss names belong nowhere until Invoke says them on camera.
Readers arriving from Baldur’s Gate 3 should treat this page as a different job: no camp, no dice, no origin picker. Readers arriving from Dark Alliance should treat it as a different session: no four-player drop-in. Readers arriving from tabletop warlock threads should treat Eldritch Blast as a pad verb, not a slot you ration after a short rest. Witch Bolt wants water and metal. Black Tentacles hold bodies and masonry. Fey Switch is a survival swap. Downpour is a ritual with bowls. Tasha’s Leash is original to this video game.
The official site, the Gamescom eight-minute film, Maggie Robertson’s stage intro, and Dominic Guay’s IGN interview remain the primary sources. Tricia Helfer is Kaatri. The lost person has no public name. Azalin Rex is vanished in previews, not a confirmed health bar. Crickshank harbors a secret in captions. Steam lists twelve languages; this wiki ships English, French, German, and Spanish. The launch window is still a year, not a day. Notes on spells/cantrips-advanced-en-0 stay unique to this article.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers drawn from official Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons reveals and studio interviews.
Do cantrips use spell slots?

Is Downpour advanced?
No. It is tagged Ritual and uses a menu plus components.
Will more layers be added?
Unknown. Raw Magic expands the kit. It is not described as a fourth button layer.
