Warlock vs Baldur's Gate 3

Search traffic after Gamescom treated Warlock as “the next Baldur’s Gate.” It is not. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a party CRPG with dice, origin characters, camp romance, and turn-based (or turn-adjacent) tactics. Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons is a single-player third-person action-adventure about one warlock, Kaatri, in Darkon. Invoke said out loud they are not simulating the table. If you want another hundred hours of talking to a camp, stay with Larian’s game. If you want to Fey Switch a Watcher and hit it with a hammer, stay here.

Shared nouns, different verbs

Both use D&D names: Eldritch Blast, warlock, Tasha as a lore figure (Maggie Robertson even played Orin in BG3). That is branding and casting overlap, not systems overlap. BG3’s warlock still cares about slots and short rests. Warlock the game treats cantrips as always-on and advanced spells as cooldown geometry. Cantrips vs advanced is the local rulebook.

Character

BG3: create or pick. Warlock: Kaatri, Helfer, one pact, one search. Kaatri, Tasha.

Place

BG3: Sword Coast adjacent. Warlock: Domain of Dread. Darkon.

Time

BG3: you pause the world. Warlock: the Watcher does not pause. Combat.

Who should skip Warlock

Players whose favorite BG3 memory is a dialogue check. Players who need four origin voices. Players who want to multiclass. Players who want a photo mode of camp clothes. The preview is the evaluation. The wishlist tool is still valid if the Gamescom film moved you anyway.

What we still refuse to invent on this page

Pre-release wikis fail when they fill silence with numbers. Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons has not published damage, cooldowns, campaign hours, or a skill tree. This article therefore repeats only public nouns: Kaatri, Tasha, Darkon, Raw Magic, cantrips, advanced spells, rituals, two weapons, 2027, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. If a later trailer names a new tool, it belongs here as a named tool, not as a guessed rank. Wishlist links belong on the platforms article. Button maps belong on the controls article. Boss names belong nowhere until Invoke says them on camera.

Readers arriving from Baldur’s Gate 3 should treat this page as a different job: no camp, no dice, no origin picker. Readers arriving from Dark Alliance should treat it as a different session: no four-player drop-in. Readers arriving from tabletop warlock threads should treat Eldritch Blast as a pad verb, not a slot you ration after a short rest. Witch Bolt wants water and metal. Black Tentacles hold bodies and masonry. Fey Switch is a survival swap. Downpour is a ritual with bowls. Tasha’s Leash is original to this video game.

The official site, the Gamescom eight-minute film, Maggie Robertson’s stage intro, and Dominic Guay’s IGN interview remain the primary sources. Tricia Helfer is Kaatri. The lost person has no public name. Azalin Rex is vanished in previews, not a confirmed health bar. Crickshank harbors a secret in captions. Steam lists twelve languages; this wiki ships English, French, German, and Spanish. The launch window is still a year, not a day. Notes on review/vs-baldurs-gate-3-en-0 stay unique to this article.
