Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons News Hub
Announcement, gameplay reveal, 2027 window, and where to wishlist
Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons is still pre-release, so the news cycle is sparse and official. Invoke Studios and Wizards of the Coast revealed the game at The Game Awards 2025 with a cinematic teaser, then returned at Gamescom Opening Night Live on 25 August 2026 with an eight-minute gameplay reveal. This hub collects those beats without mixing them with unrelated Dungeons & Dragons tabletop news or other video games that share the warlock class name.
The game is a single-player, third-person action-adventure. You play as Kaatri, a veteran weapons master who makes a pact with Tasha to search Darkon, a Domain of Dread, for someone she has lost. Platforms confirmed so far are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The launch window remains 2027. No day, no price, and no Game Pass or PlayStation Plus placement has been announced.
Why this news page exists
Players searching after Gamescom want a clean timeline, not rumor piles. They also want to know whether Warlock is a Baldur’s Gate 3 successor, a Dark Alliance sequel, or something else. The short answer is something else: real-time magic-and-melee action with no dice rolling and no custom party. Read the Gamescom preview and the Baldur’s Gate 3 comparison when you need that distinction spelled out.
This wiki tracks:
- Official trailers and where to watch them without invented video IDs.
- Confirmed story pieces: Kaatri, Tasha, Darkon, Raw Magic.
- Storefronts you can wishlist today.
- What remains unconfirmed so you do not plan around guesswork.
Timeline of public reveals
December 2025 — The Game Awards teaser
Wizards of the Coast announced Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons during The Game Awards 2025. The cinematic introduced Kaatri, the pact fantasy, and the 2027 window on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. The soundtrack choice for that teaser was Tool’s “Forty Six & 2,” which is flavor, not a gameplay promise. Full recap: TGA 2025 announcement.
Studio comments around the reveal stressed that Invoke is not simulating the tabletop session. Studio lead Dominic Guay and creative lead Jeff Hattem described a hand-crafted action-adventure built around expressive magic. Kaatri is a specific character with full performance capture by Tricia Helfer, not a blank sheet you roll at a virtual table.
Summer 2026 — Tasha confirmed as patron
At Gen Con 2026, Wizards confirmed that Kaatri’s patron is Tasha, the witch queen familiar to tabletop readers. Maggie Robertson — known for Lady Dimitrescu and Orin the Red — was later shown on stage and in the gameplay film as Tasha. That confirmation matters because the pact is the entire power fantasy: Kaatri does not start as a full caster; she bargains for forbidden tools.
25 August 2026 — Gamescom Opening Night Live
The eight-minute gameplay reveal is the current primary source for systems. It shows Tasha on screen, Raw Magic as a world resource, cantrips and advanced spells on a controller-facing toolkit, a Downpour ritual with material components, and Pact of the Blade weapons (a warhammer and a sword in the shown loadout). Maggie Robertson introduced the segment on the Opening Night Live stage. Walk through it on the gameplay reveal page and the how to play guide.
What the official site added after Gamescom
The Warlock site (warlockthegame.com) now publishes a partial spell list rather than hiding everything behind the trailer. Confirmed tools include Eldritch Blast, Witch Bolt, Gust of Wind, Levitate, Fey Switch, Black Tentacles, Misty Step, Tasha’s Leash, a long jump with an optional melee landing, and the Downpour ritual. Only part of Kaatri’s grimoire is shown; Invoke says more spells will appear in later reveals. Use the spells hub as the living list and the combo page for pairings that were demonstrated rather than invented.
The site also launched a Kaatri cosplay tour starting at Gamescom in Cologne (26–30 August 2026), with later 2026 and 2027 stops still unannounced. That is marketing, not gameplay, but it is official and belongs on a news desk. Press interviews from the same week (Xbox Wire, GameSpot, IGN, Wccftech) are filed on Gamescom press previews.

English, French, German, and Spanish (Spain) are listed with full audio in the visible table; Italian is interface and subtitles. Japanese subtitles were mentioned in Japanese press around the TGA announcement. Treat the full twelve-language list as Steam-complete rather than guessing the hidden rows. What has not been announced
Do not plan a calendar around these until Wizards or Invoke says so:
- Exact 2027 day or season
- Price and edition structure
- Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus
- Steam Deck verification
- Campaign length and post-launch plans
- A full control schematic beyond “spells sit on the controller; rituals use a menu”
- Numeric damage, cooldowns, or a complete spell book
When those land, they will be filed here and on the release date page. Until then, the useful work is learning the toolbox: combat, exploration, Raw Magic, and Darkon.
How we update this hub
Every news item on this wiki should answer a search a player is actually typing: release date, gameplay trailer, Tasha voice actor, is it like Baldur’s Gate 3, which platforms. If a social clip only restates the trailer, we do not clone it into a fake article. Bookmark this hub, the guides hub, and the official site if you want primary-source confirmation.
