Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons Warlock Controls (What Is Confirmed)

No spell wheel for the regular kit — rituals are the menu exception

Last updated:

Controls

Invoke has published a philosophy, not a button map. Dominic Guay told IGN that spells are directly available on the controller at all times. You do not open a selection wheel to swap Eldritch Blast for Witch Bolt. Rituals are the exception: they use a menu because they take longer and spend components. Steam lists full controller support, Xbox controllers, and PlayStation controllers. Keyboard and mouse bindings, DualSense haptics, accessibility remaps, and the exact face-button diagram are unpublished. This page will not fake an overlay.

What “on the pad” implies for play

If the regular kit lives on bumpers, triggers, and face buttons, traversal and combat can share a sentence without a pause. That is why exploration and combat keep repeating the same verbs. A wheel would kill the Gamescom fantasy of pinning an ogre and immediately swinging. Practice the habit of thinking in simultaneous tools: blast, shove, jump, leash. The spell combo planner is built around that, not around loadout screenshots.

Rituals as the only confirmed menu

Downpour’s table, bowls, and reagents are a crafting beat. Guay grouped that with “an actual menu where you find new rituals.” When you see a wheel in future footage, ask whether it is the ritual book or a late design change. Until then, treat menus as expensive. Rituals is the cost sheet.

Platforms and pads

PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC are the SKUs. Steam’s controller flags match a pad-first action game. Steam Deck is unknown. If you plan to play on keyboard, wait for a settings shot rather than mapping Dark Alliance or another Invoke title onto this one. Platforms tracks storefronts; this page tracks input.

Camera, lock-on, and HUD

Third-person, over-the-shoulder in the footage, with spell VFX that fill the frame. Lock-on, hard lock, target swap, and whether Tasha or the imp speak as a persistent UI companion are unpublished. Subtitle language will follow the Steam table. Do not assume a Dark Souls target lock because the camera is cinematic.

Accessibility — not yet

No colorblind modes, hold-versus-toggle, or remap screens have been shown. When they appear, they belong here. Until 2027, the only honest control advice is: expect a pad-centric kit, expect a ritual menu, expect two weapons, expect no dice roller. How to play teaches the footage. Weapons covers the two-slot idea. Guides hub is the classroom if you hate reading systems pages.

If a creator posts a “leaked control scheme,” ignore it unless Wizards or Invoke repeats it. This wiki would rather be incomplete than wrong. Bookmark this page for the day a settings menu exists.

What we still refuse to invent on this page

Pre-release wikis fail when they fill silence with numbers. Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons has not published damage, cooldowns, campaign hours, or a skill tree. This article therefore repeats only public nouns: Kaatri, Tasha, Darkon, Raw Magic, cantrips, advanced spells, rituals, two weapons, 2027, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. If a later trailer names a new tool, it belongs here as a named tool, not as a guessed rank. Wishlist links belong on the platforms article. Button maps belong on the controls article. Boss names belong nowhere until Invoke says them on camera.

Readers arriving from Baldur’s Gate 3 should treat this page as a different job: no camp, no dice, no origin picker. Readers arriving from Dark Alliance should treat it as a different session: no four-player drop-in. Readers arriving from tabletop warlock threads should treat Eldritch Blast as a pad verb, not a slot you ration after a short rest. Witch Bolt wants water and metal. Black Tentacles hold bodies and masonry. Fey Switch is a survival swap. Downpour is a ritual with bowls. Tasha’s Leash is original to this video game.

The official site, the Gamescom eight-minute film, Maggie Robertson’s stage intro, and Dominic Guay’s IGN interview remain the primary sources. Tricia Helfer is Kaatri. The lost person has no public name. Azalin Rex is vanished in previews, not a confirmed health bar. Crickshank harbors a secret in captions. Steam lists twelve languages; this wiki ships English, French, German, and Spanish. The launch window is still a year, not a day. Notes on gameplay/controls-en-0 stay unique to this article.
