The official Warlock site describes Downpour in one sentence: bend the weather to Kaatri’s will, calling rain through a localized storm that drenches enemies and alters the immediate environment. That sentence is the named ritual in the public grimoire. It is listed alongside Witch Bolt, Eldritch Blast, Gust of Wind, Black Tentacles, Fey Switch, Misty Step, Levitate, Tasha’s Leash, and a long jump. Tabletop readers arrive expecting a rain cloud they can place. Invoke’s public model is different: rituals spend components from the world, alter the environment, and open combo windows. Downpour is the weather layer. You set the table - wet ground, conductive courtyard, altered line of sight - then Witch Bolt provides the spark. Jeff Hattem told press the rain-plus-bolt sequence at Gamescom was not scripted. Treat it as a systems claim: the game wants you to chain weather into damage. The ritual uses a table and material components found in the world. Official copy mentions worms, an eye, and a jar as the component trio. Do not invent additional reagents. Do not rank it by DPS. If a later trailer shows the storm expanding, shifting, or stopping early, that verb gets a sentence here with a source.

How it sits next to other tools

Witch Bolt wants water and metal. Downpour makes a courtyard conductive. That is why the combo page treats rain as the setup and bolt as the payoff. Eldritch Blast does not need weather - it works dry or wet. Black Tentacles hold enemies still so you can aim at the world instead of a moving hitbox. Tasha’s Leash steals the sword after the stun. Official copy says: bend weather, call rain, localize the storm, drench enemies, alter the immediate environment. That is a field change, not a fire-and-forget nuke. Wet ground persists until the storm ends or the area dries. Conductive surfaces - metal poles, puddles, wet stone - become jump points for Witch Bolt. The storm is localized: it does not flood the whole map. Altering the environment means you can extinguish fires, wash away surfaces, or create new terrain lines. The exploration page will ask whether you downpour a ridge to freeze it or a trough to electrify it.

Combo partners that make sense

• Witch Bolt - the shown combo. Rain makes conduction possible. See the rituals page and combos.
• Black Tentacles - wet ground makes surfaces slick. Enemies stuck in tentacles on wet stone have fewer escape options.
• Gust of Wind - downpour adds moisture; gust removes fog or steam. These are opposite tools that can clean a lane.
• Tasha’s Leash - steal a weapon from a wet enemy after the stun, because Pact of the Blade still wants a weapon in hand.
• Misty Step - wet corridors may have different teleport affordances. Unverified.
• Levitate - rain creates reflective surfaces. A levitating enemy over a wet courtyard is a tactical image we have not seen yet.
• Otherworldly Leap - vertical positioning over a downpoured zone changes fall damage or electrocution range.
• World water - not every puddle needs a ritual. Xbox Wire also saw telekinesis pull pond water onto a fire. Natural conduction is part of the same system.

Mistakes to avoid: do not assume every wet zone needs Witch Bolt. Some enemies are immune to lightning. Some courtyards have no metal. Read the room before spending the components. The combo planner is the scratch pad for rain-then-bolt without inventing cooldowns.

When Invoke drops a 2026 clip, pause on every weather effect that is not wind or fog. A localized rain cloud over a courtyard, enemies drenched, a metal pole gleaming wet - that is Downpour’s job. If the storm expands beyond the shown radius, write “expands” here with a source. If it can be aimed or directed, write “aimed” with a clip. If a talisman named for rain appears in a menu, it belongs on builds with the clip date, not as a guessed reagent from Tasha’s Cauldron.
